What is the Wheel Configurator API?
The Wheel Configurator API is a visualisation tool that lets you show wheel and tire upgrades on real vehicles. It can be integrated into any website or application to enrich product pages and drive conversions.
How does the Wheel Configurator API work?
It combines our fitment database with a neural image-composition pipeline. A caller selects a vehicle and submits a rim image; the API returns a high-resolution composite showing the rim fitted to that specific vehicle.
What are the subscription limits for the Wheel Configurator API?
Each Configurator subscription covers a single website or application. If you need it on two websites, you need two subscriptions — and so on. See the full Configurator terms.
What is EVOX and why do you use their images?
EVOX Images® is a leading provider of high-quality automotive imagery with a focus on VR and 360° content. We use their imagery because it offers the most comprehensive, consistent and high-quality vehicle database — ensuring a true-to-life visualisation through the Configurator.
I notice the EVOX logo in the bottom-right corner of every image. Can it be removed?
No. The EVOX logo represents our partnership with EVOX and is a requirement of our licensing agreement. It is placed subtly in the bottom-right corner of every image and cannot be removed, covered or altered — see EVOX logo terms.
Which vehicles are covered by the Wheel Configurator API?
U.S. and Canadian vehicle applications since 2004, EU vehicle applications since 2019. The imagery is updated daily from EVOX.
How can we use this subscription?
You can use it for e-commerce — most commonly, enriching product description pages on retail sites that sell car rims.
What is the legal basis for using EVOX images in the API?
We have a formal partnership with EVOX that authorises us to redistribute their high-quality vehicle imagery through the Wheel Configurator API. Every image you receive is served under that agreement, so the content is fully authorised and authentic.
Do you share data with EVOX?
Per the EVOX agreement we share monthly usage data — the list of URLs and mobile applications where the Configurator API is deployed — to ensure compliance and accurate tracking of API usage.
How can existing Wheel Fitment API subscribers add Configurator access?
Email info@wheel-size.com requesting an upgrade. We will reply with an invoice through PayPal for the additional services.
Can I use the Wheel Configurator API without a Wheel Fitment API subscription?
No. The Wheel Configurator API is a complement to the Wheel Fitment API and is available only to subscribers of the Business plan or higher. Active subscribers are eligible immediately; see the pricing & payment page.
What are the rim-image requirements?
For best composite results, adhere to these guidelines for every rim image you upload:
-
1. Orientation: the rim should be turned slightly to the side so it overlays naturally on the vehicle-image perspective.
-
2. File size: the image must not exceed 1 MB. Smaller files process faster.
-
3. Dimensions: not larger than 2000 × 2000 px; not smaller than 250 × 250 px.
-
4. Background: any background works, but a transparent background integrates more cleanly and processes faster.
What if the vehicle I need is not in the database?
Email info@wheel-size.com with the specific vehicle and we will do our best to add it.
Our imagery combines two sources:
EVOX images
- Dimensions: 1600 × 900 px
- Colours: reflects OEM colour palette
Manually added
- Dimensions: 1200 × 675 px
- Colours: wider variety beyond OEM
Combining both lets us cover the broadest possible vehicle catalogue.
What is the regional vehicle coverage for the Configurator API?
Our Configurator API has broad global coverage with the deepest catalogue in key automotive markets:
1. U.S. & Canadian vehicle applications since 2004
- Source: updated daily from EVOX
- Includes OE list of colours and colour codes for every vehicle
- Image dimensions: 1600 × 900 px
2. EU vehicle applications since 2019
- Source: updated daily from EVOX
- Includes OE list of colours and colour codes for every vehicle
- Image dimensions: 1600 × 900 px
3. EU (vehicles before 2019), Middle East, Russia, Australia, Japan, China, South Korea, etc.
Two forms of coverage in these regions:
- a. EVOX vehicles common with the US market — vehicles available both in the specified region and in the USA.
- b. Manually added vehicles — supplemented from open sources, with custom colour options. Image dimensions: 1200 × 675 px.
The catalogue expands continuously as we add coverage for new models and regions.
How can I speed up image generation?
Three techniques improve composite-generation speed:
- 1.Submit rim images on a transparent background. This skips the background-clearing step, which otherwise takes real neural-network time.
- 2.Aim for rim files of 150 – 500 KB. The sweet spot for fast uploads and minimal processing.
- 3.Our neural network only performs an initial check on each rim image. Subsequent uses of the same image skip most of that work, so the first composite for a rim takes about twice as long as later composites for the same rim.
What are the terms of usage for the Configurator API?
Full terms live on the Terms of Usage page. The three key points:
- The EVOX logo must remain on every image — it signifies our partnership with EVOX.
- Every API call must be initiated by a real user (site visitor, application user). No search robots, crawlers, spiders or parsing scripts.
- Each subscription covers one website or application. Additional platforms each require a separate subscription.
